Santa Clara, CA – September 29, 2025 – Archer Aviation (NYSE: ACHR) announced that Soracle, the joint venture between Japan Airlines and Sumitomo Corporation, has been selected to lead the development of air taxi services in Osaka Prefecture. With this appointment, Archer becomes the only U.S. eVTOL manufacturer that will play a key role in the implementation of advanced air mobility in Japan.
Soracle plans to deploy Midnight, Archer’s flagship eVTOL, as the core component of its fleet. The agreements with Osaka Prefecture and City represent a critical step in building the operational, regulatory, and community framework that will connect Osaka and the Kansai region through sustainable, quiet, and safe air travel.
Archer and Soracle announced their strategic alliance in November 2024, with the goal of launching air taxi operations in Japan in cities where traffic and geographic barriers limit ground transportation. Additionally, Archer’s Midnight was recently exhibited at the Osaka Kansai World Expo to showcase the future of the service in the region.
Japan, renowned for its leadership in advanced transportation infrastructure, seeks to position itself as a pioneer in adopting the next generation of air transportation. Last week, a Japanese delegation led by Hiromasa Nakano, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, visited Archer’s headquarters in California to advance the collaboration that will enable the deployment of air taxi services nationwide.
