Otto Aerospace Reduces Fuel Consumption by Up to 60% with its Phantom 3500 and Superlaminar Flow Technology

10 April 2026

Otto Aerospace highlighted the advancements of its Phantom 3500 aircraft, designed with superlaminar flow technology to significantly improve aerodynamic efficiency.

The design incorporates a high-precision composite fuselage that allows for more uniform airflow, reducing aerodynamic drag by approximately 35%. This improvement has a direct effect on performance: lower power requirements, a reduction in engine size and weight, and a decrease in fuel consumption of up to 60%.

According to the company, this approach allows it to achieve capabilities similar to super-midsize aircraft, but with operating costs and efficiency comparable to those of a light turboprop.

This development reinforces the role of advanced aerodynamics as a key driver for improving energy efficiency in aviation.
