Vertical Aerospace Endorses UK CAA's eVTOL Delivery Model for Commercial Operations in 2028

Vertical Aerospace [NYSE: EVTL], a global technology and aeronautics company specializing in electric aviation, welcomed the publication of the UK Civil Aviation Authority’s (CAA) eVTOL Delivery Model, a regulatory framework that establishes the roadmap for the commencement of commercial operations of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in the country beginning in 2028.
The model confirms the SC-VTOL standard, considered the highest safety level for this type of aircraft worldwide, in close alignment with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It also establishes a comprehensive framework covering training, aerodrome, and regulatory activities, ensuring that operations can be conducted under both visual and instrument rules (VFR/IFR), day and night, from the start of operations.
The CAA initiative aligns with the UK government’s goal of introducing commercial eVTOL flights by 2028 and also includes the integration of hybrid propulsion systems, such as those developed by Vertical with its VX4 aircraft.
With this framework, the UK strengthens its position as a leader in advanced air mobility, while companies like Vertical Aerospace advance their certification and commercial readiness processes for the safe and scalable deployment of these services.
