Boeing and GACA Advance Advanced Air Mobility Study in Saudi Arabia

Boeing, together with the General Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia (GACA), announced the launch of an operational and airspace feasibility study for future advanced air mobility (AAM) operations in the Kingdom.
The project, supported by SkyGrid and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), aims to evaluate eVTOL routes, vertiport infrastructure, air navigation systems, and future autonomous operations under automated flight rules (AFR).
According to the participating organizations, the study will analyze how to integrate piloted and unmanned aircraft within Saudi airspace, including operations under VFR, IFR, and future fully autonomous systems.
SkyGrid will contribute capabilities related to digital air traffic management, weather monitoring, vertiport supervision, and positioning technologies for autonomous operations.
This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to advance the implementation of its national Air Mobility (AAM) roadmap, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, and the development of new advanced air mobility solutions.
