Civil Aviation Authority Announces New Drone Rules Starting in 2026

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) shared a key update on the regulatory changes that will come into effect starting January 1, 2026, aimed at making drone flying safer and easier for all users.
Among the new regulations, anyone operating a drone weighing more than 100 grams will be required to have a Flyer ID. In addition, the CAA has published comprehensive guidance covering essential topics such as:
🔹 Drone and aircraft model registration
🔹 Flyer and operator identification (including for children under 13)
🔹 Permitted flying locations
🔹 Insurance requirements and privacy regulations
🔹 Operational categories and authorizations (PDRA01, UK SORA)
🔹 Remote Identification (RID) and flight beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS)
🔹 Remote pilot training, certifications, and testing
🔹 Incident reporting and unlawful use of drones
