Joby Aviation Announces Acquisition of Second Ohio Plant to Double eVTOL Aircraft Production

Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE: JOBY), a company dedicated to the development of electric eVTOL air taxis, announced the signing of an agreement to acquire a second manufacturing facility in the Dayton, Ohio area. The facility, spanning over 700,000 square feet, is ready for immediate operation.
The new plant will strengthen Joby’s dual-site manufacturing strategy, complementing its existing facilities in California and Ohio, and will support the company’s goal of doubling its production to four aircraft per month by 2027. Furthermore, the facility offers capacity for significant long-term expansion in response to growing market demand.
The company indicated that operations at this new facility will begin in 2026. This expansion follows recent milestones, such as the completion of an expanded plant in Marina, California, in July 2025, and the start of propeller blade production in Ohio in October of the same year. Joby has also begun acquiring industrial equipment and hiring personnel to support continuous manufacturing operations.
State and federal officials highlighted the investment as a boost to employment and Ohio’s aerospace heritage, underscoring the state’s role as a key center for reindustrialization and the development of advanced aviation technologies.
Joby’s industrial expansion coincides with a context of regulatory and political momentum for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in the United States, including the recent announcement of a national AAM strategy and the preparation of the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), slated for 2026, which will facilitate operational validation and early integration of these aircraft before final certification.
