RAKTA, Joby Aviation, and Skyports to Launch Air Taxi Service in Ras Al Khaimah by 2027

Ras Al Khaimah, UAE – Santa Cruz, CA – London – September 29, 2025 – The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE: JOBY), and Skyports Infrastructure announced a long-term strategic collaboration to launch the first air taxi service network in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah by 2027. The announcement followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, marking a milestone in the implementation of innovative and sustainable mobility solutions in the region.
The partnership will bring together RAKTA’s direct support, Skyports’ expertise in vertiport infrastructure development, and Joby’s electric eVTOL to design, develop, and operate the first air taxi service in the emirate. The project will also create an inter-emirate corridor connecting Dubai with strategic destinations in Ras Al Khaimah, including Al Marjan Island and Jebel Jais, facilitating access to tourism projects such as the upcoming Wynn Al Marjan, scheduled to open in 2027.
The flights will significantly reduce travel times. For example, the journey from Dubai International Airport to Al Marjan Island, which currently takes over an hour by road, could be completed in less than 15 minutes using Joby’s eVTOL, designed to carry a pilot and up to four passengers with zero operating emissions and low noise levels.
The initiative is aligned with Ras Al Khaimah’s 2030 Mobility Master Plan and seeks to boost tourism, improve residents’ quality of life, and position the emirate as a hub for innovation and smart transportation within the UAE.
