Vertical Aerospace brought its Valo eVTOL aircraft to New York City this week, where it presented the anticipated operational use cases the model could develop using Downtown Skyport as a central operations hub. The skyport is operated by the Bristow Group, a global company specializing in air mobility solutions.

The initiative demonstrates how the Valo could be integrated into the city’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem, offering regional and urban air connectivity through zero-emission, low-noise electric operations.

According to the presentation, the Valo and Downtown Skyport would enable multiple strategic routes and services, including:

  • Airport transfers: direct connections between Downtown Skyport and major regional airports.
  • Mobility for sporting events: same-day flights between Downtown Skyport and MetLife Stadium.
  • Scenic air routes: departures from Downtown Skyport taking advantage of Valo’s spacious cabin, panoramic windows, and quiet operation.
  • Weekend trips: connections between Downtown Skyport and East Hampton Airport, geared towards short-haul travel.
  • Intercity urban transfers: links between Downtown Skyport and key heliports such as West 30th Street and East 34th Street.

These services are designed to reduce multi-hour ground commutes to flights of just minutes, offering an electric, quiet, and efficient alternative for vertical air transportation within the New York City urban environment.

Valo’s presence in the city reinforces the growing interest in integrating eVTOL aircraft into existing infrastructure, positioning Downtown Skyport as a key hub for future urban air mobility operations in one of the world’s most important markets.
