Wing and Walmart to Expand Drone Delivery in Seven New U.S. Markets

Alphabet-owned Wing targets 270 locations and 40 million Americans as delivery volume triples in 2025.

Wing and Walmart to Expand Drone Delivery in Seven New U.S. Markets

Wing and Walmart are expanding their drone delivery partnership into seven additional U.S. metropolitan areas, the companies announced on June 8.

The new markets —Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City— are part of a broader rollout expected to connect more than 270 Walmart locations to Wing’s drone delivery platform by 2027.

According to the companies, the expanded network could eventually provide service access to more than 40 million Americans.

“Our work with Walmart has shown that drone delivery isn’t just a novelty, it’s a service many customers count on multiple times per week,” said Heather Rivera, Wing’s Chief Business Officer, in the announcement. Rivera said Wing is already in contact with community leaders in the seven new markets ahead of launch.

The expansion brings the partnership’s total U.S. service footprint to nearly 20 markets, according to Wing, building on a January 2026 announcement that added Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami to earlier markets in Houston, Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte, Dallas-Fort Worth, Greater Houston, and Metro Atlanta.

The retailer recently reported surpassing one million completed drone deliveries across 66 stores in four states and five metropolitan markets. Wing has also reported that delivery volume grew threefold in the second half of 2025 compared to the first half of the year. If the companies achieve their goal of operating at more than 270 locations, the network would represent an increase of approximately 309% compared with its current footprint.

Launch timelines for each of the newly announced metropolitan areas have not been disclosed.
