Kite Aero has achieved a major milestone in long-range drone logistics after its KITE aircraft successfully completed a 277-kilometer flight using a single battery.
The demonstration, which included two takeoffs and two landings to replicate a real-world round-trip mission, highlights the company's efforts to reduce delivery costs and simplify drone logistics networks.
According to Kite Aero, extending aircraft range is one of the most effective ways to lower the cost per delivery, as it reduces the number of hubs required to serve large geographic areas. Fewer hubs can translate into lower infrastructure costs, broader service coverage, and more efficient network operations.
The company noted that routes such as Los Angeles to San Diego, Paris to Brussels, Johannesburg to Eswatini, and Sydney to Canberra are now within operational reach of the KITE platform.
Kite Aero continues to invest in both hardware and software improvements and indicated that surpassing the 300-kilometer range milestone could happen in the near future.
