Pyka has achieved a significant regulatory milestone after receiving a Special Airworthiness Certificate – Experimental (SAC-E) from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for its autonomous cargo aircraft, DropShip.
The certification authorizes DropShip to conduct flight testing within the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS), marking an important step in validating the aircraft's operational capabilities and advancing toward customer deployment.
According to Pyka, the approval will enable the company to continue expanding its flight test program while gathering critical operational data to support the future commercialization of its autonomous heavy-lift cargo platform.
The milestone further demonstrates regulatory progress for autonomous aviation technologies and highlights the growing role of unmanned cargo aircraft in future logistics and defense applications.
Pyka thanked the FAA for its continued support of innovation in autonomous aviation and indicated that additional announcements regarding the DropShip program are expected in the near future.
